Sub Plans for Thursday, September 12

Substitute: Welcome and thank you!

Teacher: Ms. Rivera · Grade 3 · Room 204

Morning Arrival (7:45–8:00 AM)

Please greet students at the door. They know the routine — backpacks in cubbies, take out agendas, begin the warm-up on the board (already written).

A helpful student: Jordan can answer questions about routines.

Morning Meeting (8:00–8:15 AM)

Call students to the carpet. Take attendance using the class list in the blue folder on my desk. Send the attendance slip to the office by 8:10 AM.

ELA / Reading Block (8:15–9:30 AM)

Topic: Main Idea and Supporting Details

Materials: Reading packets in the blue bin labeled "Sub Day — ELA"

1. Hand out the reading packet.

2. Read the passage aloud together as a class (pages 1–2).

3. Students complete pages 3–4 independently.

4. If students finish early, they may read silently or work on the "Choice Board" posted on the bulletin board.

*Walk around and monitor. This class works well independently.*

Math Block (9:30–10:45 AM)

Topic: Multi-digit multiplication review

Materials: Math packets in the red bin labeled "Sub Day — Math"

1. Write the example on the board (shown on the sticky note inside the packet).

2. Do the first 2 problems together as a whole group.

3. Students complete problems 3–15 independently.

4. Collect completed packets at the end of the block.

Specials — PE (10:45–11:30 AM)

Walk students to the gym. Pick up at 11:30. Students know the hallway expectations.

Lunch & Recess (11:30 AM–12:15 PM)

Students go to the cafeteria as a line. Recess follows. Duty teacher will supervise recess — you do not need to stay.

Science / Social Studies (12:15–1:15 PM)

Topic: States of Matter review — reading and questions

Materials: In the green bin labeled "Sub Day — Science"

Students work in pairs to read and answer questions. Collect when done.

End of Day (1:15–1:30 PM)

Remind students to pack up, check cubbies, and get agendas signed. Dismiss by grade hallway call. Please leave a note about how the day went in the yellow folder on my desk.
